Greetings Dearest Nobles!
Here we are again, same old place, same old situation. It seems like the world is standing still even though the wheels are still turning. The only thing that is moving, is the grass is growing.
Your Divan is actively trying to schedule, reschedule and schedule again, events that have been cancelled/postponed. With the restrictions from the governor and the Grand Master of Ohio, we are not sure when things will be a go, but we are trying to be creative in the ways to have some type of function and still practice “safe social distancing”. As of May 20, we are still planning on having some type of regularly stated meeting on Thursday, June 11, and I am currently working with the membership chairman on how and if we can manage a Friendship Night on Friday, June 19. We still have numerous approved petitioners awaiting a ceremonial so they can become active Nobles.
No one ever anticipated having a year like this. Zenobia started out the year on such a high note and with a lot of enthusiasm. We are working diligently to try to figure out how to “kick start” things again. I have spoken with several of my counterparts from other Shrines, and we are all in the same boat, trying to figure out how to salvage something out of the first half of this year for our Nobility. The nice thing is, hopefully, the absolute worst part is behind us and what we must do now is figure out what the new normal is going to be.
As I am writing this Pote’s Notes for May, I am reminded that Memorial Day is but a few days away and want to remind you all to remember the men and women who have and will serve our country and would like you to especially remember those that gave the greatest sacrifice of all.
In closing, let me remind you that just because we are “social distancing” does not mean we have to be socially isolated. Please call your fellow Nobles, have SMALL get-togethers and follow the safety precautions. There are two great opportunities coming up to do just that: the Findlay Clowns are having their annual golf outing at Hillcrest Golf Course on Saturday, June 20 (8 a.m. registration with 9 a.m. shot gun start) and the third annual Zenobia Shrine golf outing at Heatherdowns Country Club on Saturday, August 1 (8 a.m. registration with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start). Contact Steve Horton or Ty Stout for the Clown outing and John Hoffman for the Zenobia outing.
Things are changing, it seems like daily, so please watch the Zenobia Facebook page, E-Hadji, or call the office for any updates or changes to the calendar. Thank you for your support, kind words and understanding during this trying time. We hope to see EVERYONE SOON!!!
