Potentate’s Notes February 2021

Welcome to 2021, a new year for Zenobia. A big thank you to everyone for all the support and work they have already done this year. I know it is early, but as you read this we have already had our installation of officers, the New Year party, January’s stated meeting, our first Ceremonial of 2021, and the Wise Guy’s feature event. We have a lot of events planned for the upcoming year, but please continue to practice safety in wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. The Divan would love to have your attendance at your Shrine events, but please do so understanding we are keeping your safety in mind and will continue with the CDC protocols.

Our theme for the year is Family, Fun and Fellowship, and our activities, events and goals center around that focus. For years your Divan has met and conducted strategy meetings on the vision we have for the Shrine. We have discussed our commitment to our stakeholders, including our Membership, Masonry and the Shriners Hospitals for Children. As we come into this year, we look forward to centering our activities around these groups and the values of Family, Fun and Fellowship.
In regards to Family, in February we have the Valentines Dance Saturday, February 13, open to everyone. The cost is $20 per person and Noble Harder and the Valentines Committee are happy to answer your questions and provide you tickets. We also will be sponsoring the Potentate’s Youth Dance, if everything allows. For Fellowship we will be attending the Grand Master receptions for the 10th and 4th Districts, to show our support to our fellow Masons. Without supporting our Blue Lodges, we cannot be successful in our endeavors to grow our Shrine, so please provide our calendar of events to your Blue Lodges, letting them know we are here to provide great events they can be proud to show their brothers and candidates.

A huge thanks to everyone who has stepped up to help with this upcoming year. First and foremost my wife, Heather, who without her support and team work I couldn’t do this. Also to my extended family, the Shrine Divan, whose leadership, teamwork and dedication make all of this possible. I am so lucky to have worked with our Shrine leadership and learned so much from them. Thank you to the A-team this year for volunteering and supporting our Shrine. I never realized how fortunate we are to have such strong leaders who work behind the scenes to make our Shrine a success. When you see one of our A-team members, please thank them for what they do. They are the glue that holds us together and the engine that keeps us moving.

Please support our fundraising events with your help and contacts. We have our Circus upcoming and there is still time to get some ads in for the 2021 Circus book. We need your help in building this year’s book, so please consider finding a sponsor or two, if you are new to the Circus book, and maybe putting in your own family, unit or club ad. Sportsmen’s Raffle tickets are available and our early bird drawings started in January, so please pick up some books at the office and let folks know they are available. We had a successful event last year, thanks to the committee, Chairman Ben Croley and all of you. For us to repeat that we need your support early.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our stated meetings and having you join us as our Family, Fun and Fellowship go forward.
