Potes Notes – November 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

What a great month we are having at Zenobia.  We started the month off with Thirsty Thursday at the Ottawa Tavern on October 4th with a real nice turnout of Nobles and Ladies and a good time was had by all.

Noble Caid McKinley has been busy with his new duties as 2nd Ceremonial Master.  He brought in Bubba’s BBQ Ribs from Avon Lake and served the divan and excellent pre-divan meeting dinner on October 3rd.  He later received some special recognition from the Grand Master for his work in Masonry.  See this story elsewhere in this edition of the Hadji.  We are all very proud of him.  Nice Job Caid!

The Zenobia Arab Patrol invited me to attend their Old Timers and Widows night at the Temple on Friday, October 5th.  They are known for their steak dinners and WOW did they have a great one.  Thanks for all you guys do.

The Zenobia Divan Ladies hosted a Ladies Style show on October 6th at the Pinnacle.  Lady Susan Schnapp led an awesome event this year and from what I could see all the ladies that came had a wonderful time.  The Styles from Chico’s were very nice.  Thanks Susan and all the Divan Ladies for running such a wonderful event.  Special Thanks to all the ladies who worked as models.

Next I was off to Tampa, Florida on Tuesday October 9th through the 14th to attend the 26th Annual Shriners International Membership Conference.  The conference was well attended by 122 Temples and over 220 Nobles from all over the world.   Noble Bob Secoy Past Potentate and Noble Joe Rezbanyay attended the seminar with me from Zenobia.  Noble Bob Secoy has been appointed by the Imperial Potentate for the last two years to serve as a Membership Development Specialist.  Bob is overseeing the 6 Shrine Temples in Ohio.  Noble Joe attended on behalf of the Zenobia Membership Committee of which I have recently asked him to serve on.  All three of us have come home with many good ideas we hope to help implement over time to continue to improve membership at Zenobia.

The overarching emphasis at this year’s membership conference was on creating a sense of urgency within our Temple to get all hands on deck as it pertains to Membership.  This year at Zenobia we have worked hard to continue to develop our Membership Strategy and we are seeing our efforts pay off.  Thirsty Thursdays and RUSH Nights have worked well at getting our Membership involved in the Membership process.  We need your help to reach out to your friends who are already members and invite them to attend a Zenobia event with you as retaining the members we have now and getting them active and involved is very important.   Reach out to someone you know who used to be a member and invite them back we would love to help you restore some old friends.  Our next Ceremonial is on Saturday November 17th and we have a fun day planned for everyone who comes out.  We will be making some new Shriners that day and attending the Toledo Holiday Parade plus tailgate parties at the Temple and some great times are in store.  See full advertisement elsewhere in this Hadji.  Please join us on this day as this will be a most important day at Zenobia and who do you know that would make a great member.  Remember that Membership is on sale for $100.00 the rest of this year.  Our beashrinernow.com member marketing campaign continues to attract men to our fraternity.  The number one comment we get is that I want to be like my Grandfather.  The most common age of a prospect is 32 years of age.

Potes Notes – October 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

What a great time we recently had when several Divan members and I visited the Firelands Steak Dinner at Herm McCreary’s house.  They had a great turnout and we had fun telling a few jokes and eating some great steaks.  We all shared thoughts on what we could do to improve Membership within the Shrine and a good time was had by all.  I want to say a special Thanks to Herm McCreary for his contributions to Zenobia Shriners.  He has been very active and helpful to all.  Thank You Hermie we appreciate all you have done and I personally appreciate all your support over the years.

The Blue Lodge Perch Fishing trip was cancelled at the last minute because of Gail force winds on Lake Erie but we all decided to go in force to Diane’s Deli in Port Clinton for a wonderful breakfast.  Assistant Rabban Tuttle ordered the Hummel Cakes and was in Hummel Heaven.  I didn’t even know they served such a thing but he sure did.  Several of us then went back to my Dad’s house on Catawba Island for a nice walk in Gail Force Winds along the lake and sometime standing in Dads boat talking about all the fish we would have caught.

Next many of us were off to the Great Lakes Shrine Association meeting in Mason, OH at the Great Wolf Lodge at Kings Island.  Zenobia had a nice turnout of Divan members and Nobles.  We are all proud of our own Noble Ike Issacson who is in the Great Lakes Line and will be President in two years.  Noble  CJ Apel of the Zenobia Motorcycle Escorts was there to run the timing for the Great Lakes Motor Corp Competitions and he paraded with us on Saturday.  He is a real asset to the GLMAC organization and will be very helpful as Zenobia will be hosting the GLSA meeting in Perrysburg in 2015 under the leadership of Noble Ike Issacson.

Norm Kurtz our new Pilgrimage Chairman this year did an outstanding job with coordinating our lodging and hospitality and a wonderful time was had by all.  I owe a special thanks to the devilish crew who decided to decorate my room and trick it out just right for me as a poor un-suspecting Potentate.  The 57 Blow UP Airplanes in my room sure made it cozy on Friday night when I returned.   I am not sure who came up with the idea to put Saran wrap over my toilet but that was very clever and quite effective… wet feet YIKES!  I also enjoyed the special wall paper job that was very nice…  The Divan Ladies are a resourceful bunch of Ladies.

Special Thanks to the Zenobia Arab Patrol for attending GLSA and for marching in the Competition.  You guys looked great and always perform well.  You make Zenobia proud of all you do.  Good Work Guys!

The Dendarah Ladies are hosting the Great Lakes Unit Meet GLUM in Perrysburg later this month.  They are sure a hard working bunch of Lady Shriners.  We appreciate all the support they give to Zenobia and especially to Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Several of us from the Divan will be attending their GLUM Banquet at the end of September.

Nobles we have the next Thirsty Thursday coming up on October 4th at the Ottawa Tavern.  Please come out and enjoy some fellowship.  Ladies and non-masonic friends are all invited.  No cost except for your own food or drinks.

This year I have been focused on the BIG 6 Strategies and Shriners Journey to the future.  The Six Strategies are Membership, Communication, Leadership, Temple Management, Temple Activities and Philanthropy.

Big 6 – Strategy 6 is Philanthropy and is the topic I wanted to write about this month.  Zenobia is very active at raising money for the World’s Greatest Philanthropy Shriners Hospitals for Children.  This Strategy is perhaps the most loved of all the 6 we are focused on and is singularly responsible for attracting many men to become Shriners.    Our involvement at Zenobia is broad and let’s list a few ways that we get involved to help kids get care at our hospitals.  First we hold Hospital Mini-Clinics each year and these clinics seek to find kids from all over Northwest Ohio who could use help at one of our Hospitals.  Zenobia supports 4 hospitals including Erie, Chicago, Cincinnati and Lexington.  Our Zenobia Road Runners provide free transportation for kids and their families back and forth to our hospitals as often as needed.  Zenobia Shriners volunteer to be appointed Hospital Board Members and drive themselves to and from many meetings at each of the respective hospitals giving time, talent and means to run our hospitals as representative of Zenobia.  Many of our Clubs and Units hold fund raisers every year that benefit our hospitals.  We all help support our Tabloid Sale and many of you are now supporting our Hospital Plaque Sales to raise funds annually for our hospitals.  One of the most rewarding experiences for any Shriners is meeting a Shriners Patient who was cared for and helped by our Great Fraternity…  Shriners run Shriners Hospitals for Children and because of each of you we have the greatest Philanthropy in the World – Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Thanks for all you do Shriners because when we are united by a common cause we can accomplish great things.

Nobles we have many great events in the near future.  Take a look at the calendar in this Hadji and join us you will be glad you did.

Finally Nobles, Remember it is time to get back to Blue Lodge and enjoy the benefits of your Lodge and our fraternity.

Our Attitude for Altitude campaign is well underway and I have a FIRST CLASS ticket for you.  I promise it will be a great ride so please get on board, sit down, buckle up and hang on.

Potes Notes – September 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

What a great summer it has been to be a Zenobia Shriner.  We have paraded, visited hospitals, had picnics, visited with local patients, raised funds for our fraternity, transported kids for treatments, we raced Bobbers down a river,  raised funds for Shiners Hospitals for Children, went fishing, had a corn roast, went flying, and ate several steak dinners and a plate full of deep fried smelt…  WOW if you are like me you have enjoyed it all and it went by way too fast.

Special thanks to all of you who came out for the Bobber Race and helped out our just came for the fun.  We had a wonderful day and raised some money for Zenobia.

On June 15th Monticello Lodge served 59 RUSH Night dinners to everyone who attended.  It was a wonderful night and many learned for the first time what Freemasonry and being a Shriner is all about.  Several Blue Lodge petitions were started that night and we are excited that on October 19th we will have our next Blue Lodge RUSH Night.  Come out and bring your lady and someone you know who you would like to introduce to Freemasonry.  Great Food, Great Fellowship and Exceptional programs will be waiting for you so come on out.  See our website for full details at http://www.zenobiashriners.com

This year I have been focused on the BIG 6 Strategies and Shriners Journey to the future.  The Six Strategies are Membership, Communication, Leadership, Temple Management, Temple Activities and Philanthropy.

Big 6 – Strategy 5 is the topic I wanted to write about this month.  Zenobia is blessed to have such a strong history of very successful Temple Activities to draw from each year.  We know that being a Shriner is all about networking with other Freemasons who are Shriners, getting involved with Units and Clubs of your interest or in your area and attending events.  When you get involved with a Unit or Club you are going to make close personal relationships that can and do last a life time.  Our events are multi-faceted as some are just for fun like motorcycle riding or skeet shooting maybe horse riding etc…  Other events are to benefit the Temple and many of our events are to promote our philanthropy Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Events are the life blood of our fraternity as they allow us to come together and to work together as Freemasons to do our work as Shriners.  Working together in harmony to support our children’s hospitals attracts many men to our fraternity and it allows all of us to use the teachings of Freemasonry to help those less fortunate then ourselves.  Nobles come out to one of our next events and enjoy some fun and fellowship with your fellow Nobles.  We need your participation to meet or goals and with you attending all of our events will be just a bit more special because you came.

A new event that the Divan Ladies ran this year was Twilight Thursday at the Pinnacle in Maumee on July 19th.  This event was a fund raiser for Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Thanks to all of you who came out and helped raise some funds it was a successful night and a good time was had by all.

Potes Notes – June 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

What a great start to spring with our Spring Ceremonial at Put-In-Bay on May 5th.  We witnessed an excellent ceremonial degree by our Dramatic Cast and took in five new Nobles.  Welcome New Nobles we are glad you joined us and we welcome you to an incredible organization.  Your journeys have just began and remember you get back what you put in and we hope you will visit our units and clubs and find a place to call home.  Please come to our Temple often and attend our monthly stated meetings.  We have a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of Masons who are Shriners just like you.  We also invite all of you to parade with us as we would love to have you join us as we proudly parade as Shrine Masons.  Thanks to P.P. Jerry Argabrite and his team for a great meeting of the Ohio Shrine Association at PIB.

We had a nice time in Tiffin at Thirsty Thursday held at T.J. Willies.  We had many nobles attend from the Toledo area who drove down and several on motorcycles from the Motor Cycle Escorts.  A good time and great food was had by all and we especially enjoyed the ladies from the Ladies Oriental Shine who came out to be a part of this special event.

Many thanks go out to the brothers of Napoleon Lodge who cooked for us at the Blue Lodge RUSH Night steak dinner at Zenobia on April 20th.  We all enjoyed wonderful music by the Zenobia Brass Band and an incredible meal prepared and served by Napoleon Lodge.  Thanks to all who came out and we did receive some petitions that night and our Lodges are busy working these petitions.  The RUSH Nights have brought us many new Brothers and Nobles and we know many more men are soon to join our great Masonic Fraternity.  Ask someone to join you to a RUSH Night.

Nobles I want to thank all of you who helped with the Onion Sales this year.  Many hands make for light work and we sure saw how powerful we are when we all take a part and do a little as it really equals a lot.  Thanks for helping Zenobia raise some much needed funds.

Big 6 – Strategy 4 is our topic this month and that is Temple Management.  In support of Temple Management your Trustees and your Divan has been pretty busy talking to Kent Bueher of the Bueher Group in asking him to prepare a plan for the future expansion phase 1 of our building.  This past Stated meeting I presented a brief review of our current Temple and introduced everyone to the idea of expanding our current building by enclosing the current patio area.  Kent Bueher presented the work his firm did in creating a plan for us.  The presentation was well received and if we can raise the necessary funds in the future for our building fund we now have a very workable plan to expand our storage, meeting space and number of meeting rooms which would greatly enhance the usability of our building an make it more appealing to be rented for special occasions.  Zenobia has done yeoman’s work in moving from our older large and outdated building to our current LEED Certified energy efficient and affordable to operate building.  We have a much smaller building but we are utilizing every inch of it.  Let’s all work to raise some funds in the future so we can implement this plan.

This is the last Hadji until September so I wanted to say please come out and enjoy all our special events which get started with the Blue Lodge Walleye Fishing Tournament on May 19th on Lake Erie and then the Bobber Race June 9th and the Blue Lodge Shootout Golf Tournament on July 21st.  These events are all very important to our operations and Nobles please attend and help out as much as you can.  We need your help.

Plane Fun at Toledo Executive Airport is the place to go on June 16th and 17th.  We are parading and entertaining with our units and clubs.  The EAA is giving free Young Eagle airplane rides for kids.  Enjoy good food and fun and airplanes.  Come on out Nobles and have some fun with us.

Finally Nobles, Please join with me by visiting your Blue Lodge often this year.  I know we will be glad we did.

Our Attitude for Altitude campaign is well underway and I have a FIRST CLASS ticket for you.  I promise it will be a great ride so please get on board, sit down, buckle up and hang on.

Potes Notes – May 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

The most recent weeks have been packed with activities.  We often describe the Shrine as the private fraternity for Master Masons.  We can easily see how this describes us well.  Let’s look at what we have been doing.  First we learn from our Masonic teachings that we need to be solid upright and just men.  This means as we are taught to look for ways to help others especially those less fortunate then ourselves.  This work was recently brought to light by our successful Hospital Mini-Clinic.  The Nobles who led the Mini Clinic were Noble Dr. Espinoza, Noble Dr. Gable and Noble Assistant Rabban Keith Tuttle.  They were assisted by their ladies and scores of other Nobles and Ladies who all played a part in running a very successful event where six new kids will now have an opportunity to be helped by our philanthropy Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Thirsty Thursday event for April found us gathered at S.W.I.G. in Perrysburg.  Over 30 Masons and Shriners and their ladies and some potential candidates joined for a great event.  One of our Divan members Chief Rabban Dennis Gable had so much fun he attended twice.

The Circus was again a wonderful show this year.  Thanks to Bob Secoy P.P., Ike Isaccson P.P., Teri Fowler and Dick Fries and Fred Emmett for primary management of it this year.  We had great participation from Shriners and their Lady’s and from lodge brothers who helped out and especially from the DeMolay and Rainbow.  I want to say thank you to all who gave of their time to help our great cause as Shriners.  We run the Circus not only as a fund raiser but also as a way to help get special kids to our Circus and to offer a great family friendly venue for all to enjoy.  Seeing all of us come together to work on one major cause is an awesome site and the Positive Attitudes at the Circus about who we are and what we do were surely going to bring us Altitude in the coming years.  We are still working on the books and we are sure to have broken even this year.  I know with all the ideas flowing to create now programs at the Circus like Lunch with the Clowns and having already started on next year’s Circus we will continue our goal of filling the seats.  Filling the seats will assure us a solid fund raiser that will allow us as Shriners to do even more for our members and most especially for the kids we seek to serve.

Noble Jerry Argabrite P.P. and his team of Nobles ran another great Firemen’s Appreciation Night.  We witnessed firsthand the stories of heroism and service before self.  Shriners and Firemen are a very compatible group of people and we especially take pride in giving those hard working men and ladies the recognition they deserve.  THANKS to all of YOU and also special recognition to our own Noble Jack Green who received a 45 year service award from Rising Sun Fire Department for his service.  Congratulations Jack.  As Potentate I gave out two special Potentates awards this year for members who have served on the Firemen’s appreciation committee for 10 years.  Past member Paul Fournier recently passed and Bob Papenfuss.  Paul and Pappy have worked tirelessly to assure the success of this program.  Thank You Pappy and Paul we miss you brother.

Big 6 – Strategy 3 is our topic this month and that is Leadership.  As Masonic organizations we do a lot to assure the future success of our members as Leaders.  We begin this journey of learning at our first entrance into a Masonic Lodge as there we begin learning about great lessons in life and that once one begins to work on themselves this work will most certainly assure the development of a man to become more confident, more educated, a better communicator and a stronger man both mentally and spiritually.  The leadership lessons in our Blue Lodges are founded in valuable life lessons and gleamed from the greatest minds of all times.  Joining lodge and then joining other Masonic bodies and the Shrine assures continued growth and development of the individual.  Taking on responsibility the help our organizations by running events, fund raisers, or entering a leadership line are all examples of a person working to help themselves by learning to help and to lead others.  Perhaps the greatest example of Leadership is when a man feels that he has grown as a man by being a member of Masonry and he then seeks to help other men see the light by helping them enter their journey into Freemasonry.  This is sign of a truly developed leader one who is willing to step and help out and to say I can share this story and I want to help other good men I know become even greater men.  Thanks to all of you who work to recruit new men.

This story came to me at the recent Ladies Oriental Shrine officer installation as I watch dozens of ladies all stepping up and taking parts in the leadership and operations of their Temple for this next year. I watched all of them pay such great respect to Lady Kuhn as she took the ultimate leadership position as their new High Priestess.  I felt honored to stand and feel the love and admiration that emanated from all of these ladies as they supported each other and especially their support for their new leader.  I am thankful to have been there to witness this.  Masonry is truly a leadership development organization.  Who do you know that can use our help and who in turn will then be better enabled to help us help others?

Nobles the Onions are coming soon and we need to get them all sold and delivered in record time.  The Tackle Box 2 is again hosting a fund raiser for Zenobia and it’s the 2nd annual Bobber Race and they are now selling tickets for this event.   Stay tuned for more information.

See you in Tiffin at TJ Willies for Thirsty Thursday on May 3rd.  Ohio Shine is May 4th and 5th with our Spring Ceremonial on May 5th at 3 p.m. at Put-In-Bay.  Who can you invite?

Nobles get your boats and fishing pals entered into the Blue Lodge Walleye Fishing Tournament on May 19th.  Event details are in this Hadji and all proceeds will support RUSH Nights to GROW Masonry in NW Ohio.

Special Thanks to John Mershon for all his help at putting this publication together.  He does a wonderful job.

Nobles at the last Stated meeting we witnessed Noble John Sponsler deliver a wonderful speech wasn’t he great?

Finally Nobles, Please join with me by visiting your Blue Lodge often this year.  I know we will be glad we did.

Our Attitude for Altitude campaign is well underway and I have a FIRST CLASS ticket for you.  I promise it will be a great ride so please get on board, sit down, buckle up and hang on.

Potes Notes – April 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

The First Quarter of the year is now over and we have had a great start. When we started the year we knew we had to find a way to attract new men to become Freemasons and help us support our Masonic and Shrine causes. This task is no one that is mandated by some head of something who says we must do this or else. This task must come from you our fellow Brothers and Nobles. If you believe in our causes as I know you do then I know you can see the problem and that is we need younger men now to join us so our older more experienced Brothers and Nobles can mentor them. The good news is this. When we stated the beashrinernow.com program 3 years ago we knew we had to find a way to attract younger men to join us. We knew they are out there but what we didn’t know then and we do know now is this. They want to join because of their Grand Fathers, Fathers, Brothers, Uncles and friends they know who have left an impression on them of Good Men doing Great Things… This is the impression they have of you. I say to you “Ask them to join you at our next Rush Night or Temple Function. Invite them to go fishing with you at our upcoming fishing tournament. They will be glad you did and they will make you very proud of your fraternity.

I recently had the opportunity to review over 3000 beashrinernow.com comments lefts by men who visited our beashrinersnow.com website and read our information and then filled in a profile about themselves. Over 800 said they want to follow in your footsteps. Many said they are very interested in helping the kids and others said they wanted to grow their circle of friends in their communities. All good reasons and all of them just need you to be alert and ready when you see an opportunity to invite a man and his lady to one of our functions.

The Divan and I excited are very about the future of Zenobia and all the great things we see happening because of hard working men and ladies who care about our fraternity and do the things necessary to assure its continued success. I know by the time you read this the Circus for 2012 will have opened presented 8 shows and closed. Our goal for the Circus this year was more attendance and we hope the increase in our marketing activity will have helped us attain that goal. Come on out to the April Stated meeting and let’s all see how we did.

The Divan at our last meeting entered into a web marketing agreement with the Toledo Blade. We are paying to market the beashrinernow.com web banner ads on the Toledo Blade web assets for the next three months. If you are a registered Virtual Mentor you will be hearing from me in the next week or so to invite you to a special training class for mentors. If you want to become a mentor please sign up at http://www.shrinersvillage.com Membership, Virtual Mentor Program. If you are not signed up and want to be email and I will personally help you. The beshrinernow.com banner ads will appear in the Hadji issue so you know what they look like. Take a look Nobles we are systematically going to grow our fraternity. Mouth to Ear one man to another and we need you to lend an attentive ear.

Big 6 – Strategy 2 is our topic this month and that is Communications. As part of our Communications plan this year I desperately need Nobles who will apply to be Blue Lodge Emissaries. We are launching a new program where each Blue Lodge in Zenobia jurisdiction – 55 of them will each have a representative of the Potentate attend their Lodge meetings and give brief reports on what we are doing to Grow Freemasonry in Northwest Ohio. We need all our Lodges to partner with us in this effort and support our Blue Lodge Rush Nights, Thirsty Thursdays, Fishing Tournaments and our Golf Outing this summer. Please contact me Nobles if you can volunteer to represent Zenobia and Freemasonry at your Lodge meetings.

Thanks for all who attended the Ididtarod Party we learned a lot about Alaska, Dogs and Cold Deep SNOW! Special thanks to Teri Fowler, Dick Reder, Troy Hawkins, Tim Nackowicz and Joe Bublick.

Nobles the Onions are coming soon and we need to get them all sold and delivered in record time to make way for the 2nd annual Bobber Race which is coming soon on June 9th. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Thanks to all of you who have attended Thirsty Thursdays, Rush Nights and our other functions. Having you at our events is what makes the Fellowship of being a Shriner such a special thing. We need you Nobles please come on out and enjoy the benefits of your membership. If you need assistance in any way please let us know by calling the Temple.

Potes Notes – March 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

The New Year has brought Zenobia new and exciting activities!  The Wild Game Dinner was wildly successful with over 150 joining us for great food and camaraderie.  Thank you to Gary Brown and all his helpers who with his leadership championed this new concept.

The Divan and I attended the Scots Wha Hae at the eloquent Toledo Yacht Club in early February where we saw firsthand the great work of the Zenobia Highlanders.  They are well organized, well ran and do an excellent job at getting there members involved.  Congratulations to their members who received special awards that night.

As we look forward, the Iditarod Party will be March 10th at the Temple.  Bring your snowshoes and winter hats and join us for The Last Great Race… the Iditarod 2012.  We will watch video footage from the race as brave men and women endure the trials and tribulations of the 1000 mile race from Anchorage to Nome Alaska.  This will be a fun social event so bring your family and friends and enjoy good food, good drinks and good fellowship while comfortably watching a great race.

The Big Six strategy is the road map for the future of the fraternity and Zenobia. Each month I will focus on one of the six strategies in my article.  I will begin with Membership. It is said that membership in any organization is considered the foundation and it must be strong to assure survival.  Events such as the Wild Game dinner and Rush Nights are opportunities to invite men unfamiliar with Zenobia to learn about our Shriners.  As we were all taught as children, you must leave the place you have better than you found it and you must replace yourself as you leave.  It is each of our responsibility to invite at least one new member to join Zenobia. I am very proud of our Shriners and would like to find other men as fine to join us in our efforts to do good work for children and have fun together as Freemasons and Shriners.

The second Masonic/Shrine RUSH Night will be at Zenobia on Friday March 16th.  More information is presented in this newspaper but I am simply asking you to support this night with your attendance and by bringing a non-mason or non-shriner mason with you.  This event is for and in cooperation with all the lodges in northwest Ohio to present programs to men interested in becoming a Freemason or a Shriner in a high impact high energy environment.

If you are in Florida please come to the GATOR PARTY on March 5th in Sarasota.  It is a great time and you will see many of your friends at this event.  I will see you there.

Thanks to all of you who helped with and attended the first Rush Night and the Club and Unit Officers Installation.  I would also like to thank the Dendarah Ladies for a wonderful evening at their ceremonial dinner.

Finally Nobles, Please join me by visiting your Blue Lodge this year you will be glad you did.

Our Attitude for Altitude campaign is well underway and I have a FIRST CLASS ticket for you.  I promise it will be a great ride so please get on board, sit down, buckle up and hang on.

Potes Notes – February 2012 – Illustrious Sir Hamons

Dear Nobles,

Thank You for installing me as your Potentate for 2012.   I am honored to serve as the Potentate of Zenobia Shriners and to lead our Nobles and their Ladies into the future. The year 2012 will focus on the Big 6 strategies: Membership, Communication, Leadership, Temple Management, Temple activity and Philanthropy.

My vision for this year is “Attitude for Altitude”.  Attitude is forward thinking and optimistic engagement of members unified in common goals.  Altitude is the result of successfully implementing the Big 6 Strategy and demonstrating improvement within each strategy area.

This will only be achieved if each member will commit to make Zenobia Shriners stronger and better with each passing year. I am committed to you as your leader to do my best to lead with a strong Attitude, committing to each and every Shriner; and to soar to the highest Altitude always pushing the boundaries of our success.

We will continue to promote the world’s greatest fraternity to men interested in finding their inner strength, and we will secure the success of the world’s greatest philanthropy – Shriners Hospital for Children through our commitment to children in need .

Thanks to the many Nobles and Shriners who bought tables provided gift baskets and auction items for the Wild Game Dinner.   Also thanks to all those who brought non-mason or non-shriner friends with them.  Remember all monies made at this event will sponsor membership programs for 2012 to help grow our lodges and shrine membership.

Don’t watch the Super Bowl along but do come out for the Super Bowl Party on February 5th.  Tickets are available from any Directors Staff member or call the Temple for help in getting your tickets.  Together we will make this party as fun as the game itself we just need you and your friends for this to happen.

The first Masonic/Shrine RUSH Night will be at Zenobia on Friday February 17th.

Thanks to all of you who helped with and attended my Potes Reception it was a wonderful time.  Special Thanks to the Divan Ladies, Teri Fowler and Dick Fries for all your hard work at food and decorations.

Finally Nobles, Please join me in celebrating the greatest year of Zenobia Shrine as we embark on our Attitude for Altitude campaign as I have a FIRST CLASS ticket for you.  I promise it will be a great ride!

Potes Notes – January 2012 – Illustriuos Sir Hamons

I am celebrating my tenth year as a member of the most prestigious fraternity in the world. At this time, I am honored to serve as the Potentate of Zenobia Shriners and to lead our Nobles and their Ladies into the future. 2012 will focus on the Big 6 strategies: Membership, Communication, Leadership, Temple Management, Temple Activity and Philanthropy.

My vision for this year is “Attitude for Altitude”. Attitude is forward think-ing and optimistic engagement of members unified in common goals. Altitude is the result of successfully implementing the Big 6 Strategy and demonstrating improvement within each strategy.

This will only be achieved if each member will commit to make Zenobia Shriners stronger and better with each passing year. I am committed to you as your leader to do my best to lead with a strong Attitude, committing to each and every Shriner; and to soar to the highest Altitude always pushing the boundaries of success.

We will continue to promote the world’s greatest fraternity to men interested in finding their inner strength, and we will secure the success of the world’s greatest philanthropy Shriners Hospitals for Children through our commitment to children in need.

Join me in celebrating the greatest year of Zenobia Shrine as we em-bark on our Attitude for Altitude campaign. It will be a great ride!
