Potentate’s Notes March 2022

Greetings Nobles.

First, I hope you all survived the “Snowmageddon” of early February. I know I was busy “clearing the way” for a few days. I am thankful the weather cleared and we were able to celebrate our Shrineaversary Gala. What a great event! So many great memories shared, and it is amazing how a few old pictures can spark a memory of times gone by. A big thank you to the committee for planning an outstanding event.

Secondly, please welcome Brage E. Elliot as the new Hadji editor. Please submit all material to ([email protected]) by the 10th of the month before publication. Welcome aboard Noble Brage.

It is hard to believe March is here, and we all know what that means … CIRCUS TIME! March 17 to 20 at SeaGate Center. Talk to our circus director or marshal, and they can find a job for you. All kinds of help is needed, from selling novelties, ride tickets and courtesy shuttle drivers. Please come to SeaGate and help out.

As you may already know, the divan has begun the process of hiring a new business manager. Noble Richard Fries is retiring after 10 years of service to Zenobia. I am positive a replacement will be hired soon and trained by our great recorder.

Preparations are still underway for the Potentate’s trip this fall, on a Carnival cruise up the east coast. The February information session was well attended and a few more people booked a room for the trip. Time for deposits is now and if you are still on the fence about going, contact Sara at Sara’s Travels and she can email you information on the adventure we’ll be taking. If more people show interest, another info session can be booked, so you too can ride the waves.

On Friday, March 11, your membership chairman Steve Hessler and Zenobia are taking friendship night on the road. We will be traveling to Monticello Lodge, in Clyde, to share insight on Masonry and Shrine. If you live in Sandusky County and have a prospective member, please make plans to attend.

Sweet Vidalia onions will be arriving in May and we are taking orders now. Please order your onions through the office. Get your order in by April 1. No extra onions will be ordered. If you want onions to sell, get them ordered.

On a special note, thank you all for the calls, texts and cards sharing condolences for the passing of my Father, Noble Ron Stout. It truly means a lot to belong to a brotherhood that truly believes in brotherly love. All your compassion meant a lot to the entire Stout family. I am so happy that he had the opportunity to see me installed as the Potentate of Zenobia. Although he will be missed, his memory will live on with your kind words and generous donations to Zenobia for future members to enjoy. Thank you!

Until we meet again, keep a warm heart and a big smile.
